Musical improv seems like one of the most daunting types of improv... but what if it didn't have to be? This class will break down the main tenants of music and musical improv into easily-digestible nuggets to have you making up songs in no time! If you've ever wanted to learn how to make up songs like Wayne Brady of 'Whose Line is it Anyway' or Jess McKenna of 'DropOut / Off Book: The Improvised Musical,' then this class is the perfect starting point for you! No scenework, no improv theory, just pure sing-songy goodness, babyyyy! Whether you're a novice singer or an experienced musical pro, this class will have plenty to offer - all experience levels welcome! This class will culminate in a showcase performance. Class: Sundays, 12:00PM - 2:00PM 8-Weeks Included: 10/4, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25, 11/1, 11/15, 11/22, 12/6 Note: No class 11/8 Bellingham Improv Festival or 11/29 Thanksgiving Weekend. Showcase: Thursday, Dec 10, time TBD Instructor: Jesse Markus Prerequisites: Completion of Level 2 or Level 1.5 with teacher recommendation. A base-line knowledge/love of music! About the Instructor: Jesse Markus discovered improv in early 2008 and swiftly fell in love with the art form. He has since performed and taught at various festivals and theaters across the Western United States and Canada. He is a founding board member of the widely-lauded Wasatch Improv Festival, as well as half of the award-winning improv duo "Murder Fairy & Arson Leprechaun" (Audience Choice, Downtown Las Vegas Improv Festival). He hopes to use both his experience and passion for improv to inspire others to pursue this wonderful craft!
