Saturday, Nov 7, 2026, 3pm - 5pm (2 Hours) Instructor: Mary Carpenter Advanced | 18+ | Workshops are non-refundable. Whether you’re a Jedi, a scoundrel, a rogue or a rebel, this advanced scene study class is for you. In this workshop we will do a deep dive into listening. You will practice how to listen in 4-D: to your partners, yourself, silence and instinct. Through exercises, scene work and individualized feedback you will walk away with practical tools and skills that will unlock deeper funnier scenes, stronger connections and a more advanced ability to trust yourself and your fellow improvisers. Teacher Bio: Mary Carpenter has worked as an actor, improviser, teacher, director and writer for over 30 years. A graduate of Northwestern University and LAMDA, she has been with CSZ Philadelphia since 1992, where she has worked as a performer, teacher, Education Director, Artistic Director, and Executive Director. Mary’s improvisation experience also includes City of Nutterly Love with The Second City, It Doesn’t Matter, ‘Til Death Do Us Part, 3M, I’ll Have What She’s Having, Odd at Sea, Detective Improv, Frankenstein’s Body and her solo show What If, as well as publishing her book: Do Or Do Not: How To Improvise Like A Jedi. Most recently, she co-created and co-directed Improvised Star Wars(CSz Philadelphia), and This Should Never Be A Musical(1812 Productions). She has taught improv for 30+ years at CSz, Improv Utopia, Yo Adrienne Improv Festival, Baltimore Improv Festival, the Nestival and many independent workshops.
