Sunday, Nov 8, 2026, 12pm - 2pm (2 Hours) Instructors: Michael Haycock and Jesse Markus Intermediate | 18+ | Workshops are non-refundable. Everyone who has done or watched short-form improv knows them, but not a lot of people truly realize how to make them work to their fullest potential. This workshop will break down several different types of guessing games, laying out how to make them hyper-engaging to an audience. We will cover useful tools and processes such as Building the Scene, Paring Down the Picture, and The Charades Plague. If you're looking to bolster your nonverbal communication, hone your verbal skills, or strain your pop culture lexicon, then this workshop will be a blast for you! Teacher Bio: Michael Haycock is a PNW transplant from Salt Lake City, Utah. He has been performing in improv comedy shows for well over a decade. He has coached teams in Salt Lake City, Bellingham, and LA. He is a co-founder of the Wasatch Improv Festival, and the current AD of The Upfront Theatre. He absolutely loves finding ways to improve local talent and build the improv community. When not on stage, Michael is a huge fan of board games and Dungeons & Dragons. Jesse Markus has been studying and performing improv since 2008. Since discovering the craft, he's performed and taught at various theaters, festivals, and schools around the U.S. Jesse is a founding board member of the Wasatch Improv Festival, and is half of the award-winning midform duo, Murder Fairy & Arson Leprechaun. He loves all improv, but extra-adores musical improv! In his spare time, Jesse likes to tinker with gizmos and doodads.
