Demystifying the Monoscene
Available spots
Service Description
Saturday, Nov 22, 2025, 12:30pm - 2:30pm Teachers: Ryan Myers and Ashley Rube Level: Intermediate It can be hard to sustain a 10-20 (or even 45!) minute monoscene. Long scenes may feel like they run the risk of becoming boring or unwieldy - but they don’t have to! In this workshop participants will learn tactics for driving a single longform scene that remains simple and manageable while continuing to find the fun, playful discoveries that shake up most multi-scene shows. With specific skills and a mindset focused on making your scene partner look incredible (and making all of their gifts matter), your monoscene won’t devolve into something you or your scene partner ever want to escape! Teacher Bio: Ryan and Ashley are St. Louis based improvisers, commercial actors, writers, and teachers. They serve as faculty members of The Improv Shop (STL) Training Center and co-direct the Business Services division. Since forming Touch Baseball, Ashley and Ryan have become a mainstay among Improv Shop House Teams (150+ shows) and have performed and taught workshops at festivals and venues all over the country. They also serve as advisors for the Missouri Thespians Conference, providing improv coaching to hundreds of high school students from across the state. As teachers, their approach to improvisation is informed by St. Louis’ own style; relationship and emotion-forward performance with heavy emphasis on group mind.
