Class: Solid Scenes (Mondays) Dates: September 18- November 6 Time: 6- 8pm Showcase: Thursday, November 9th at 7:30 Instructor: Gillian Myers Prerequisites: completion of "Advanced Spontaneity," or permission from the Education Director. Note: Must be 18 or older to attend this class. This level 3 foundation class will focus on stage ready skill building, stretching you to become a well rounded improviser. Students will gain a complete understanding of how a scene works, discovering and practicing all the details that come together to make our scenes great. We will focus on character driven scenes that hone in on specific skills such as character development and dynamics, object work, scene starts, stage presence, and playfulness. Students will study concepts like the rhythm of a scene, the arc of a scene, and being in the moment. Solid Scenes is our final foundations class, and will result in stage ready improvisers! This class will culminate in a showcase during the G.B.U on Thursday, Nov. 9th. About the Instructor: Gillian Myers is a trained improviser, actor, and writer with a love for collaboration, discovery, and play. She has been teaching and performing with the Upfront Theatre since 2014. Gillian enjoys working with people of all ages and skills levels, supporting folks in finding excellence and joy on their improv journey.
