Improv 100 - Intro to Improv

This course will excite and inspire new students, introducing them to the wonderful world of improv. Students will cover improv fundamentals, learn and play improv games together, and enjoy tapping into their playfulness and creativity. No experience necessary - this class is fun, safe, and will change your life for good and forever!

Improv 200

Students become more familiar with the stage and the elements of story.  New games and exercises are learned along with a deeper understanding of the fundamentals learned in improv 100. Students begin to tie together the "Who? What? Where?" of scene work into a double knot of improv awareness. *Prerequisite: completion of Improv 100 or referral.

Improv 300 - Fundamental Scene Work

Students will develop a powerful, flexible approach to their scenework, focusing on reaction/response. The class mantra will be "To listen closely and respond meaningfully to offers, and make our scene partner look brilliant." By the end of this session, students will be able to navigate improv scenes with relaxed confidence. They will become proficient at being truly in the moment on stage and having great, meaningful reactions to their scene partner's offers. *Prerequisite: completion of Improv 200 or referral.

Improv 400 - Performance Scene Work

The student's skills are sharpened in this advanced scene work class. Students will expand upon the work they began in 300, exploring and heightening character, physicality, and narrative choices. By the end of this session, students will be able to confidently create rich, dynamic improvised scenes at a performance level. *Prerequisites: completion of Improv 300 and instructor referral.

Intro to Improv - Ages 10-14

This course will excite and inspire students, introducing them to the wonderful world of improvisation! Through games and physical exercises, students will engage their imagination and creativity. They will practice teamwork, and positive communication skills, building their confidence and discovering their own potential in a fun and safe group environment.

A 6 week course (Wednesdays from 5:30pm - 7pm)

This high impact course will greatly strengthen your communication skills, teach you to think quicker on your feet and develop better relationship and interpersonal skills. Become more adept at networking, public speaking and one-on-one business interactions. You will come away more empowered and confident in your ability to interact with and influence clients and other professionals.

We use a very specific curriculum that demonstrates the impact of applying improv to business, focusing on skills that are essential to being great. It is not about being witty or clever or interesting, there is no acting or role-playing involved. It is about increasing effective communication with others, thinking quickly on your feet, and being present and in the moment. This will be a complete paradigm shift in the way you view business interactions. You will learn to:

- Be present and adapt in the moment
- Communicate with yes instead of no
- Look good by making others look good
- Think on your feet and go with the flow
- Take focus with confidence and embrace failure

Each course consists of two intensive two and a half hour workshops from 1 - 3:30pm each day at The Upfront Theatre.
